DEPARTMENT OF APPEALS AND HEARINGS

Dangerous Buildings Findings and Orders for May 16th, 2025.  (The Department of Appeals and Hearings (DAH) has filed the findings and demolition orders of the Hearing Officer for the Dangerous Buildings hearings held on May 16th, 2025, in accordance with Section 8-17-24(d) of the 2019 Detroit City Code. These matters are to be scheduled for a show cause hearing before City Council not less than 30 days after the date of hearing. See City Code Section 8-17-25(a).)

Recommendation for Deferral on property at 1594 Cadillac. (A special inspection conducted on February 24, 2025, revealed that the building is secured and appears to be sound and repairable. The owner has paid all taxes and is current. The proposed use of the property is owner's use and occupancy. This is the 1st deferral request for this property. We therefore, we respectfully recommended that the demolition order be deferred for a period of six months.)

To amend Chapter 29, Minors, Article III, Regulation of Minors in Public Places and Adult Responsibility for Violations, Division 2, Curfew, of the 2019 Detroit City Code by adding Sections 29-3-14 and 29-3-15 to provide for a superseding curfew for all minors beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025 (being the scheduled date for the Detroit Annual Fireworks Display, or any rescheduled date) and continuing until 6:00 a.m. the following morning, applicable only in the area within and bounded by the Detroit River, Swain Street, the Fisher Freeway (I-75), the extension of the Fisher Freeway (I-75) easterly to Gratiot Avenue, Gratiot Avenue, Verner Highway, Hibbard Street, and Marina Drive.
